The ability to filter away or split traffic according to specific criteria is key to achieve real-time gigabit performance in many types of network applications.
Napatech Network Adapters have state-of-the-art filtering functions that can be combined and altered on the fly, in operation, without loss of packets. Here is a brief overview of the functions:
The individual filter functions can easily be combined into powerful filter expressions using AND, OR and NOT, which are supported by Napatech's NTPL configuration script language. The Napatech Network Adapters that support filtering have 64 individual filters to be used separately, or in combination with each other.
To illustrate the power of the filtering feature set, one single protocol filter will use the results of the Frame Decoder to correctly recognize the packet of a specific protocol, in up to 7744 different scenarios of encapsulations (ISL, VLAN and MPLS), and IP and TCP options found on the network.
The filtering functionality can also be combined with other features, such as slicing to conditionally reduce the captured data, or multi-CPU server
buffers to enable total control of the packet feeds to one or more CPU cores.
Filters can be created or deleted on the fly without packet loss. For the Napatech NT Family Network Adapters overlapping filters can be prioritized.
