Napatech Showcases How to Scale Suricata Performance to 100gbps at SuriCon 2021
COPENHAGEN, Denmark – Oct. 19, 2021 – Napatech™ (OSLO: NAPA.OL), the leading provider of programmable SmartNICS, today announced that the company will highlight its ability to scale Suricata performance at the hybrid SuriCon event on October 20-22 in Boston, Massachusetts.
Networking and security applications like Suricata are extremely CPU-intensive and flow-aware, but not all packets necessarily need to be processed by the application at all times. The Napatech solution uses a flow-based action processing to bypass x86 altogether (FWD, block, redirect) using a workload-specific FPGA for flow action processing. This requires tight integration between x86 applications and SmartNICs via APIs to allow applications to change actions on a per-flow basis.
